Description
Contents and structure: Research in applied computer science and engineering is a cross-disciplinary activity applying computer science techniques, methods, and tools for problem-solving within one or more application domains. Candidates that are to undertake a master thesis project in computer science and engineering must therefore have the ability to plan a research project based on state-of-the-art in applied computer science and which advances the frontier of knowledge in both computer science and in the application domain. The course introduces research methods in computer science specifically targeting applied computer science in and cross-disciplinary research context. The candidates will iteratively develop a research proposal which will include literature review, hypothesis and research questions and project plan, and which will serve as a basis the master thesis project to be undertaken. Assessment: Portfolio The assessment is based om an iterative development of a master thesis research proposal. A number of preliminary versions of the research proposal must be handed in and be approved. The grade will be based on the submitted final version of the research proposal. Pass/fail.
