Description

This course focuses on strategies employed by multinational enterprises (MNEs) and the organizational structures and processes needed to achieve them. It covers strategic considerations for international expansion, organizational and strategic factors for managing MNEs operating in various markets, including motivations for expansion, firm-specific assets and capabilities, country and entry-mode choice, global operations organization, and generic MNE strategies. International business is broad; this course introduces critical topics. It is an advanced undergraduate-graduate course with substantial reading and active participation expected. Basic strategy concepts (e.g., Porter's 5 forces, SWOT) are assumed. AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude may be used to summarize personal material and check work.
