Description

The course aims to provide students with insight into the general rules for design, as well as routine in preparing project materials up to and including the preliminary design stage. Furthermore, students will acquire the basis for selecting structural solutions and materials considering sustainability, structural properties, energy, and maintenance. The course will introduce students to 3D modeling and the use of digital tools. The course consists of two main elements: Building Design (BDE) and Building Information Modelling (BIM). Topics include construction legislation, building structures, 3D modeling, sustainability, and digitalization. Teaching and activities: 4 hours per week over 12 weeks with teacher-led instruction. The student's workload corresponds to 137.5 hours in total. Study activities include reading materials, class assignments, homework, group work, oral presentations combined with lectures. Examination: Requirements: 1. Attendance (≥ 75%). If this is not met, the student must submit a written assignment in WISEflow to be eligible for re-examination. Exam format: Assessed based on 4 sub-tasks, consisting of 3 individual assignments and one group assignment. Each task weighs 25%. Internal assessment. Allowed aids: All. Re-examination: The 4 assignments are resubmitted for reassessment within an agreed timeframe. Grading: According to the 7-point grading scale. Course responsible: Merete Thorhauge.
