
Public Sector Economics
Description
An introduction to public sector economic principles and theories. Topics include market failures such as: public goods and externalities; taxation and public spending; effectiveness, efficiency, equity and political feasibility criteria for policy evaluation and review processes. Applied public sector economics and Indigenous economics are discussed. Supplemental Notes: - Credit will be granted for only one of ADMN 310, ADMN 403, ECON 100, ECON 103, ECON 103C, ECON 104, ECON 180, ECON 201, ENGR 280 (if taken prior to May 2012). Credit Conversion: UVic incoming-exchange materials state most UVic courses are worth 1.5 units, a typical full-time term load is 6.0-7.5 UVic units, and 1.5 UVic units equals 6 ECTS. Exchange Registration Note: Exchange registration can be restricted in Business, Education, Engineering, Health, and Law unless the partner agreement allows those areas.
