Learning objectives: The course aims for the student to gain an understanding of the public administration study tracks at the University of Vaasa and to grasp the core areas of public administration research and education. These include, for example, systems of administration and services, their management, legal regulation, regionality, and development of various societal functions. The student also becomes familiar with practical tasks of a public administration scientist. Content: The course introduces the public administration study tracks at the University of Vaasa (public sector management and public law). The public sector management track combines studies in regional science, public management, and social and health administration. Public law forms its own study track. Through practical content, the core areas of public administration research and education are presented, such as systems of administration and services, their management, legal regulation, regionality, and development of societal functions. The course also introduces practical tasks of a public administration scientist. Completion methods: The course is conducted as online studies. It includes independent study and online assignments. Learning materials: Materials are available in the online learning environment.
