Public Policy Analysis

Description

Learning outcomes: After completing the course, the student will be able to solve policy problems, identify challenges encountered in achieving social policy goals, and justify difficult choices. The student will also be able to identify types of problems, their solutions, and seek, create, and use the information and data required for solving them. The complex nature of data collection and processing is approached from the perspective of reconciling the interests of various actors, such as citizens, businesses, and professional groups. The course strengthens the following common learning objectives of the major in Public Policy and Management: the ability to analyze and interpret public activities and their operational environment from the perspectives of organizations and regions, and the ability to develop the activities of organizations, regions, and networks, taking into account their specific characteristics. The student also develops problem-solving and interaction skills. In terms of sustainable development, the goal is to learn to develop effective, responsible, and transparent institutions at all levels and to promote partnerships between the public and private sectors and civil society. Content: Social policy as a connector of politics and administration, key problems and challenges of social policy, possibilities and limitations of utilizing different types of information and data, the relationship between values and facts in policy decision-making and implementation. Study and assessment methods: Exam based on lectures and literature. Performances are evaluated as part of group activities on a scale of 1-5, fail. Learning materials: 1) Dunn.
