Norms and Usage in Basque

NOTE: THIS SUBJECT IS OFFERED ONLY IN BASQUE Communication skills are essential in health-related work. Health professionals, including dentists, must respond to various communication situations in their daily tasks: communicating with patients, families, society, and other experts. These communication needs are reflected in several competencies defined in the Dentistry degree curriculum: - Identifying patients' concerns and expectations and communicating effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing, with patients, relatives, media, and other professionals. - Sharing information with other health professionals and working in teams. - Maintaining and using records containing patient information for subsequent analyses, always preserving data confidentiality. - Knowing, critically evaluating, and using clinical and biomedical information sources to obtain, organize, interpret, and communicate scientific and health information. - Obtaining and developing clinical histories that include all relevant information. These undergraduate competencies are addressed in various courses within the Dentistry degree but are especially developed in the Basque Language Norms and Usage (EAE) and Communication in Basque (KE) courses. In the KE course, future dentists will learn to use these skills in academic and professional settings.
