Poverty, Disadvantage and Discrimination

Overview: Students intending to engage in social work need to be familiar with the ways in which poverty, disadvantage and discrimination are created and sustained. This module will contribute to the development of students’ awareness and understanding of issues of inequality. It will develop some of the theories and concepts from Understanding Social Science and Social Research and consider how inequality impacts on the lives of vulnerable individuals and groups within society.
