This module will provide you with an opportunity to complete a significant piece of independent work on an accounting or finance topic of your choice. The most up-to-date information available on a wide range of accounting and finance-related topics will be made available to you in this class. The lectures are expected to share academic research outputs based on your own research interests. By selecting this module, you'll gain knowledge of contemporary issues in accounting and finance area as well as developing your own presentation and analytical skills. It provides a facility to enhance your learning and communication skills in the final year of your studies, as well as amplifying your analytical, synthesis and evaluation skills, and to aid your ability to bridge theory with practice. Core Learning Outcomes On successful completion of the module, you should be able to: demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues in academic accounting and finance research; develop independent research skills in collating materials relevant to a specialised topic in accounting and finance; communicate knowledge around a specialised topic in accounting and finance through a presentation to an informed audience; critically evaluate a specialised topic in accounting and finance through independent writing. Introductory Reading and Preparatory Work There is no set book, and no recommended purchase for this module. You will be issued with a list of contemporary peer-reviewed academic articles from leading accounting and finance journals. A complete list of required reading will be provided in the module outline.
