Description

- Understand Sport and Sport Pedagogy (SP) from a pedagogical-cultural perspective, highlighting the relationship between Sport, Science, Culture, and Education; - Identify key areas of concern within SP (Education, Training, Learning, Development, and Socialization of individuals engaged in Sport); - Recognize the pedagogical value of Sport, particularly the meanings, principles, norms, and values expressed in the actions of sport educators and participants; - Understand the educational role of sport professionals, as well as existing teaching conceptions and pedagogical approaches; - Understand the connection between the athlete's pedagogical and developmental project and the implementation of pedagogical “best practices”; - Understand the pedagogical demands inherent in long-term athlete education and development. - The human meaning, pedagogical value, and cultural dimension of Sport; - Sport Pedagogy as a scientific discipline: subject, goals, and fields of intervention; - Educability and the need for education of the human being; learning of, in, and through sport and movement as an integrated and multidimensional process; - The pedagogical action of sport educators; - Teaching conceptions and pedagogical approaches; - Pedagogical tools in the process of athletic development; - Pedagogical framing of athlete development - Expository teaching and thematic discussions, with the presentation of practical assignments by students; - Active and collaborative learning strategies, including synchronous and asynchronous thematic discussions; debates; and think-pair-share dynamics (TPS); - Teaching methodologies inspired by problem-based and project-based learning. Prerequisites/corequisites: Students are expected to have basic knowledge of the cultural, social, and economic relevance of Sport, as well as awareness of the high-level educational demands (specialized skills and knowledge) placed on sport professionals. SIGARRA mobility teaching-language note: Suitable for English-speaking students. Incoming mobility students choose course units through SIGARRA and a Learning Agreement. U.Porto states that one ECTS credit corresponds to 27 hours of total student work, the standard load is 30 ECTS per semester or 60 ECTS per academic year, students are strongly advised to register for at least 20 ECTS per semester, and enrolment is subject to timetable compatibility, prerequisites, vacancies, and later programme changes.
