Community Engagement: Respect and Reciprocity

Students in this course will explore how Aboriginal communities live, work and thrive in contemporary Australia. They will gain insight into the structures, relationships and dynamics that shape community life, and how these have been impacted by colonisation. A holistic approach highlights the political, social, cultural and economic forces influencing communities today, while also recognising the resilience, strength and reciprocity that underpin Aboriginal ways of working together. By the end, students will be equipped with the understanding and respect needed to engage ethically and effectively with Aboriginal people in professional and community contexts. All ABOR courses are developed in alignment with the Wollotuka Institute’s Cultural Standards Framework, ensuring respect for cultural principles and practices.
