Description

Aim To provide students with knowledge and understanding of the main topics of economic anthropology, including exchange, consumption and various economic styles, by attending lectures and seminars, sharing information and writing independently on this topic. Tasks 1. To provide theoretical and ethnographic knowledge about anthropological research in economic systems and human experience in them. 2. In lectures, to study classical debates and the main theoretical approaches in economic anthropology. 3. Carry out an in-depth, ethnographic study of specific aspects of this debate in seminars, comparing case descriptions. 4. To give students knowledge and experience in one of the pillars of anthropological theory and ethnography. Tests and examinations can be submitted in both Latvian and English.
