Description
The course aims at supporting students through writing their bachelor theses and its tasks are following: focussing on technical and practical aspects of thesis writing and providing peer-to-peer support during the first stages of work thus complementing students’ individual work with their supervisor. Two specific topics are discussed via student presentations: academic writing of the thesis and data production, strengthening students’ competencies and preparing them for writing up their bachelor thesis. The course is organized around the process of writing the bachelor thesis and formal requirements in thesis production: submission of a detailed research proposal and plan, fieldwork progress reports and a draft thesis submission at the end of the course. The course concludes with the formal thesis progress review where the thesis draft is evaluated in comparison to the originally-proposed and updated research plan. Course is taught in Latvian and English.
