Fieldwork Practice of Anthropology I

Description

The aim of the course is to apply and strengthen your theoretical and practical research skills. Tasks of the course: knowledge of theory and methodology acquired in earlier-taken courses is applied in formulating one’s own research question, designing and carrying out independent research. Time management, establishing of rapport with informants, identification of ethical challenges and data limitations are practically applied through the course. During the course students receive support from two supervisors and also their peers as to provide peer support to other students, mutually learning from each other. The fieldwork project allows students to probe and pilot research questions and approaches for their bachelor thesis, as well become more familiar with their intended field-site. The language of instruction is Latvian and English.
