Architecture Fabrications

Overview: Architecture Fabrications is where you will be given the opportunity to specialise on how the varied array of architectural building and 3D modelling and rendering coexist to generate plans, layouts and visual schematics on how architectural designs are visualised. You will learn how to design, build, and experiment with sustainable and recycling materials to build scale models that challenges what is architecture. Taking a design queue from your designs to convey these to the 3D modelling environment. You will discover how a virtual 3D platform can extend your thinking of what architecture is. You will have the opportunity to align your specialist interests while generating creative work where the character of architectural is tested. Method of assessment: Main Assessment Methods: Project 1. Details: Architectural Sheets, Scale Model, Photographs, Drawings (Three A1 sheets, Scale Model) (30%) Project 2. Details: Architectural Sheets, Scale Model, Photographs, Drawings (Four A1 sheets, Scale Model) (30%) Journal Sketchbook. Details: Weekly Journal entries, design skills and techniques (10 weeks of sketchbook entries) (20%) Research Sheets on architectural materials (five A2 sheets) (20%) Reassessment methods Like-for-like Learning outcomes: On successfully completing the module, students will be able to: 1) Demonstrate visual ideas, solutions, and presentations independently and/or collaboratively in response to set briefs. 2) Visualize types of observations, fabrication, design concepts in relation to making. 3) Render ideas through selected use of materials, processes, and software. 4) Illustrate connections between visual ideas and process of making, that show how the methods of presentation can demonstrate outcomes. 5) Apply historical and contemporary visual references to set briefs that demonstrate visual or textual research. Notes Credit level 3 . Foundation level module taken in preparation for a degree. ECTS credits are recognised throughout the EU and allow you to transfer credit easily from one university to another.
