Rapid changes in digital technologies and their application are causing major changes for individuals, organisations and industries. For example, Machine Learning, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence are impacting how we work, communicate, compete, socialise, and much more. Assessing and making use of these technologies is imperative to differentiate yourself as a business and stay ahead. This course aims to provide a deeper understanding of some of the most important digital technologies and their underlying principles. This is crucial for all aspects of business administration, from marketing to logistics and from strategy to entrepreneurship. The course emphasizes a global organisational and managerial approach to IT for business. The tutorials will focus on the basics of programming in Python. This will help you understand how to implement the above technologies in a business. Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students are able to: describe key information and data technologies and their underlying principles; assess the opportunities and implications for organisations of key information and data technologies; apply and use key information and data technologies for business applications; apply the basics of programming to appreciate the complexity of new technologies and products.
