Tackling Challenges in Business Sustainability
Description
This course is project-based in the sense that participants work in groups to tackle an organisation's sustainability challenge. We work together with a range of organisations to develop sustainability projects so that participants can learn to apply the frameworks of the previously taken courses in a practical project guided by the course lecturer. Applying consulting skills and project management tools, student teams are challenged to create entrepreneurial and innovative sustainable business models in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The course culminates in team presentations of proposed solutions to experts in the field. Objectives: After successful completion of this course, students will be able to: collectively envision, develop, implement, and assess transformative interventions for more sustainable business; apply learned sustainability concepts from the MscBA Honours programme in Sustainability to practical projects; distil research, explain data, and translate complex concepts into understandable ones in a practical setting; professionally articulate and communicate a well-founded understanding of sustainable business; collaborate in teams to critically analyse problems, generate ideas, negotiate consensus, coordinate to develop innovative solutions, and manage complex projects.
