The course is intended to provide students with a lasting conceptual framework in finance and, through the incorporation of real-world data and business cases, a greater understanding of how real-life business situations play out. This course offers a blend of lectures, case discussions and hands-on exercise sessions to enhance our understanding of corporate finance. Topics covered during the course include net present value, cost of capital, definitions of risk, economic profit, financial modelling, and capital structure. We will apply valuation techniques to various practical contexts, such as M&A, restructuring and project finance. Objectives: After successful completion of this course, students will be able to: analyse financial decisions, including project financing, M&A, investments and divestments; use the risk-return relationship in theory and practice; understand where empirical problems call for adjustments, and ascertain the robustness of the decision.
