GGGV1063 Approaches to Teaching Literature in English in Malaysia 3 This course will introduce students to the aims and philosophy of teaching Literature in English in Malaysian schools. It will further guide them to enhance teaching methods in literature in English that would demonstrate that teaching literature is a way to develop critical appreciation and cultural awareness for students whose English is a Second Language (ESL). Utilising prose, poetry and drama, the students will select suitable texts and design appropriate activities for Malaysian literature classrooms that would encourage students to be more independent and thoughtful readers.
