Description

Description: The International Commercial Mediation Competition is a moot competition in mediation organized by the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. This one-of-a-kind event gathers teams from universities and mediation experts from around the world. After getting comfortable with mediation skills and techniques, the team receives its four competition cases which consist of two different parts: General Information and in addition to that each team receives their own Confidential Information – not known to the other party. The cases deal with commercial disputes that are to be handled in mediation in order to prevent arbitration and court proceedings. Whether it is a late delivery of goods, damaged products or any other unfulfilled contract, the main goal is always to create common solutions and win-win situations. Student teams are divided into requesting party and responding party in mock mediation sessions, where individual team members act out the role of counsel and client before a mediator and two judges. Combining competition, learning and networking, this unique event gives participants a golden opportunity to take part in moot mediations, to explore cultural differences in international commercial mediation and to enjoy numerous social activities.
