Description

The competencies related to Family and Community Nursing begin in this first-year degree subject; it offers students the opportunity to analyze the complexity of the health concept and its determinants to foster a comprehensive, global, critical, and community-based view of the health-disease process in the community. This will enable students to understand the current epidemiological situation of society and analyze intervention possibilities to improve health in 21st-century society. A key aspect is Health Promotion and Education within the clinical context of Family and Community Nursing. One of the fundamental findings of public health in recent decades has been to reveal the direct and complex relationship between community health status and its determinants: this has allowed understanding the importance of the physical environment, social environment, and lifestyles in current health. Thus, improving societal health depends on the ability to carry out actions that promote health and quality of life for citizens in multiple community and care contexts.
