How to write more creatively: fiction, poetry, journaling
Description
For this class, we will explore -- in a practical and active sense -- the question, "What is Creative Writing?" We all, on the one hand, need to write essays for our classes or in order to pass exams, but what about the writing we do outside of this? Writing a journal or diary can be a form of creative writing, as can writing fiction, poetry (including forms such as haiku), or almost any other kind of writing one can imagine. The sky really *is* the limit! In this class, we will try different types of exercises to release the creative "self" that each and every one of us possesses, and open to the mysterious, the Muse, the majestic... In this course, we will try our hand at various forms of what might be labeled "creative" writing; that is, writing that allows us to open up our writing to forms not usually taught in essay writing courses (though writing creatively can definitely help one to be a better writer overall, and so also has practical applications for your classes and for writing essays on exams).
