Physical Principles and Medical Imaging Techniques (Pascal Vairac, 14h) The course reviews physical interactions used in medical imaging: optics, acoustics, X-rays, nuclear magnetic resonance, etc. Fundamental points allow targeting applications of different principles. Medical imaging techniques have reached a high maturity level, limiting the dissemination of technical principles covered. Methods presented include MRI (scanner), radiology, acoustic imaging, Doppler probe imaging. Image Processing for Medical Applications (Nicolas Ratier, 10h) This course covers image processing and analysis methods used in the medical field. Filtering methods, spectral analysis, and data processing are addressed. Biophotonics and Eye Optics (Damien Teyssieux, 14h) This teaching first covers optical microscopy and spectroscopy concepts in biological materials. Fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, and optical spectroscopy methods (absorption spectroscopy, Raman effect, etc.) are treated. The second part addresses eye optics from both geometric and photonic perspectives. Methods for correcting refractive pathologies and eye measurement and characterization methods are presented.
