Biomaterials (Jamal Takadoum, 8h) This course presents the main known biomaterials, focusing particularly on titanium-based alloys, 316L steel, high-density high molecular weight polyethylene, PEEK, alumina, and PSZ zirconia. Numerous usage examples will be presented and discussed. The course also addresses osteointegration issues, surface functionalization of implants before implantation in the human body, as well as regulatory and standards questions. Physiology and Disability Description (Pierre Grailhe, 8h) Biomechanics of the arterial wall and endothelium, dynamic adaptation of arterial wall shape and structure, bone remodeling, application of mechanical laws to the skeleton and bone formation, para-tetra motor, different stages and types of disability. Biomechanics (Pierre Grailhe, 4h) Modeling: general principles. - Practical application of theoretical mechanics elements to human movement analysis - Review of the theory of interacting material point systems - Theorem of momentum and angular momentum for a multi-joint system - Application to the human body: Winter's model - Kinetic energy theorem and evaluation of internal force work. Example of walking - Issues related to evaluating human machine efficiency - Modeling wheelchair movement.
