& Objectives This course aims to introduce students to Korean culture and society. It explores the distinctive nature of Korean culture and society including those pertaining to the contemporary history, religion (Shamanism, Buddhism and Confucianism), living culture such as authoritarianism and collectivism, food, clothing and housing culture, family and gender, and so on.. This course will examine these topics and issues through socio-cultural, historical, and comparative perspectives. International students will have an overall view of Korean culture & society, while native Korean students will have opportunities to form and express critical opinions on their own culture & society in English. The primary objective of this course is to provide an overview of Korean culture and society. Students will have comparative and balanced views on Korean culture and society.
