International Relations in East Asia

& Objectives International Relations in East Asia (IREA) is an introductory course covering the major issues of Northeast Asian nations (China, Japan, and South & North Korea) as well as the United States and Russia. With the four great powers, three nuclear weapons states, and two of the world’s largest economies, East Asia is one of the most dynamic regions in the world. This course will examine the main sources of conflict and cooperation in the region, assessing competing explanations for key events in East Asia’s international relations.
