Content: Thesis Start-up Seminar – Purpose and Content The thesis start-up seminar is for students who will write their thesis next semester. The seminar aims to provide you with a solid and clear starting point for thesis writing by introducing you to the overall process, including applicable rules and guidelines as well as key deadlines. The seminar is organized as a workshop where you will have the opportunity to actively work on your thesis ideas, clarify and delimit your research area, form groups, and draft your thesis contract, i.e., your master's thesis topic. The thesis contract must be submitted to the administration between November 1-15, 2026, and forms the basis for assigning a relevant supervisor with academic expertise in your research area. The thesis contract is also a binding prerequisite for writing the thesis that semester. The seminar will cover the following topics: Choosing a thesis theme, 'Choosing' a supervisor, What makes a good problem statement?, Thesis with a partner (organization, company)?, Planning your process, Possibility of group formation. In addition to the academic presentations, study environment tutors have arranged a thesis café where you can drop by for a cup of coffee and some snacks. It takes place in the foyer of building 25, right next to the administration's presentation. Here you can also learn about the possibility of getting a thesis office at ISE and joining a network for solo theses.
