Matter waves. Postulates of wave mechanics. Stationary states and one-dimensional potentials. Particle tunneling and scattering states. Introduction to matrix mechanics and Dirac notation. Quantized angular momentum, and the H atom. NOTE Manual: estimated cost $20. Requirements: Prerequisite PHYS 212 and PHYS 242 and ( MATH 221 or MATH 280 ) and ( MATH 225 or MATH 231 or MATH 232). Equivalency PHYS 343.
