Psychology of Sport and Exercise
Description
This course will introduce both theoretical and applied/professional aspects of human social behaviour in sport and exercise settings. Learning Hours: 108 (36 Lecture, 72 Private Study) Requirements: Prerequisite Level 2 or above and registration in a HLTH or KINE Plan. Corequisite PSYC 100 /6.0. Course Learning Outcomes: - Critically evaluate knowledge related to psychological dimensions of sport and exercise. - Describe theories that inform the work being conducted in the field. - Translate the information acquired from the research to more practical situations (e.g., exercise participant adherence, arousal regulation in sport). - Analyze and discuss a range of approaches and techniques used to evaluate sport participation and performance (at both the individual and team levels) and exercise outcomes. - Use writing as a mechanism for information consolidation and learning. - Practice and demonstrate effective writing skills. Assessment/Exam Context: Course assessment and examinations vary by course; Queen's notes that eligible exchange students whose first language is not English may receive extra final-exam time. Exchange Registration Note: Arts and Science courses are open to exchange students subject to prerequisites and space. Most courses should be in Arts and Science; other faculties may be limited. Education, Medicine, and Nursing are not open to incoming exchange enrolment.
