Program Planning and Evaluation
Description
An examination and application of the principles of program planning in a variety of settings. Topics will include needs assessment, intervention design and implementation, and evaluation. Students will develop a program plan. Learning Hours: 120 (36 Lecture, 36 Group Learning, 48 Private Study) Requirements: Prerequisite Level 4 or above and registration in a HLTH Specialization, Major, Joint Honours, or KINE Specialization, and HLTH 205 /3.0 or HLTH 315 /3.0. Course Learning Outcomes: - Discuss the importance of settings to health promotion. - Describe key concepts and implications in promoting health from an ecological approach. - Identify sources and resources to construct an organizational/community profile. - Recognize one's positionality and how it relates to health promotion practice. - Discuss ethical issues in health promotion, including the need for developing authentic partnerships with organizations and communities. - Plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion interventions in diverse communities. Assessment/Exam Context: Course assessment and examinations vary by course; Queen's notes that eligible exchange students whose first language is not English may receive extra final-exam time. Exchange Registration Note: Arts and Science courses are open to exchange students subject to prerequisites and space. Most courses should be in Arts and Science; other faculties may be limited. Education, Medicine, and Nursing are not open to incoming exchange enrolment.
