Development of the discipline and most important discoveries; analysis of historic and prehistoric cultures and sites with emphasis on the ancient Mediterranean. NOTE Also offered at Bader College, UK (Learning Hours may vary). Learning Hours: 126 (36 Lecture, 90 Private Study) Requirements: Prerequisite None. Exclusion CLST 129/6.0. Course Learning Outcomes: - Demonstrate an understanding of the history of archaeological research on the ancient Mediterranean world. - Recognize the development of the discipline of archaeology in its historical and cultural context. - Develop a general understanding of the main sites and cultures of the ancient Mediterranean. - Evaluate the potential and the limitations of archaeological evidence for the study of past societies. - Relate aspects of the ancient past to similar aspects of the modern world. Assessment/Exam Context: Course assessment and examinations vary by course; Queen's notes that eligible exchange students whose first language is not English may receive extra final-exam time. Exchange Registration Note: Arts and Science courses are open to exchange students subject to prerequisites and space. Most courses should be in Arts and Science; other faculties may be limited. Education, Medicine, and Nursing are not open to incoming exchange enrolment.
