Functional Human Anatomy I

Description

Gross and functional anatomy of the head and neck, back, body wall and upper limb, including blood supply and neural controls. Requirements: Prerequisite ( BIOL 102 /3.0 and BIOL 103 /3.0) or BIOL 200 /3.0 or KNPE 153 /3.0 or permission of the instructor. Exclusion ANAT 215 /3.0; ANAT 216 /3.0. Course Learning Outcomes: - Identify and describe the key anatomical features of the head, neck, thorax, and upper limb. - Using a regional approach, explain the anatomical relationships between the bones, muscles, and viscera and their associated nerves and blood vessels. - Apply your knowledge to connect the structure of muscles, viscera, and their associated vasculature to understand their key functional roles in the body. - Critically analyze anatomical structure and function to predict functional deficits resulting from anatomical alterations (for example: body mechanics and movement). Assessment/Exam Context: Course assessment and examinations vary by course; Queen's notes that eligible exchange students whose first language is not English may receive extra final-exam time. Exchange Registration Note: Arts and Science courses are open to exchange students subject to prerequisites and space. Most courses should be in Arts and Science; other faculties may be limited. Education, Medicine, and Nursing are not open to incoming exchange enrolment.
