Doodle and Drawing

Description

Doodling is scribbling from which imagination takes birth and curves out. In contrast, drawing is a more structured, well-developed technique that gained popularity since the European Renaissance as a stand-alone medium. Artists like Leonardo da Vinci valued drawing over painting. Since then, drawing has become a robust representation technique, not merely an intermediary stage waiting to get covered with color. Despite all the technological progress over the centuries, drawing has survived as an important representation technique. The graphic novel is a fascinating example of contemporary drawing practice. This course aims to inculcate drawing practice in you. Over the semester, you will populate a physical sketchbook with original drawings with a pen, pencil, charcoal, conte, sanguine, or any other medium you want to explore. Daily, you must draw at least one object/ subject/ event from your surroundings. In the first half of the course, the class will meet during scheduled class hours at different convenient locations to draw the activity of people and their interaction with the built environment within the campus. In the second half of the semester, you are expected to develop a ten-page graphic story (A5 size pages) by using and compiling the drawings from your sketchbook. I will show you drawings of several important artists. You can use their drawing styles as inspiration and begin your drawing journey by following in their footsteps. Prerequisites - None Scheme of
