Description

Course content: The course introduces the process of planning a residential area in an urban context. Teaching focuses on site analyses, urban design of buildings and public spaces, infrastructure for transport and a zoning plan. The course introduces principles that inform the formal development of residential areas in an urban context. Learning outcome: Knowledge: The candidate has thorough knowledge on principles applied in the development of planning documents in the context of the Norwegian planning system. Skills: The candidate can develop and discuss a proposal for a planning task, prepare analyses that support a proposed plan, establish presentations, and can handle planning tools that are applied in the Norwegian planning system. Candidates can cooperate and produce in an interdisciplinary process. General qualifications: The candidate can solve planning tasks in different contexts and under varying premises and can communicate well in interdisciplinary cooperation processes. Learning methods and activities: Exercises in groups, lectures and excursions. This course is offered to incoming exchange students and will be thought in English if necessary. Required previous knowledge: Minimum Bachelor's degree or its equivalent Course materials: Information will be provided at the start of the semester.
