Integrated Land Use and Transportation Planning
Description
Course content: The course will address land use as a driving force and in the development of cities and regions and the transport system. There will be provided examples of organizing and implementing of interdisciplinary integrated land use and transportation planning on the master planning level. Learning outcome: Knowledge: The student shall have: - thorough knowledge of the land-use transport connection, i.e. how much transport is generated by different functions - good knowledge of the presumtions for more sustainable and environmental friendly travels using restrictions and incentives. Skill: The student: - can analyse the importance of land use for travel behaviour, the relationship between different transportation modes and requirments for transport standard as a function of land use - can use results from travel behaviour investigations, data bases and environmental impact assessments (EIAs). General competence: The student: - has basic understanding of plannnig of land use and transportation infrastructure in a sustainable perspective and what constitutes this concept. Learning methods and activities: The lectures will cover topics such as integrated land-use and transport planning, urban development/location behaviour, planning for public transport, planning related to road transport as well as planning for cycling and walking. Lectures are supplemented with exercises and possibly seminars. A course plan that schedules lectures, exercises and specified mandatory activities will be published as the beginning of the semester. This course is part of an international masterprogramme and will therefore be thought in English. Required previous knowledge: Minimum Bachelor degree or its equivalent. It is an advantage with knowledge of planning according to your country's Planning Act. Course materials: Books, Compendium (including articles, research reports and governmental documents).
