
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING I
Description
This module will introduce students to the preparation of financial statements in line with International Accounting Standards and company law. Topics covered include; published company reports and accounts, cash budgets, incomplete records, suspense accounts, control accounts and data management for accountants. Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Demonstrate an awareness of the accounting regulatory regime and the role of accounting standards in the preparation of financial statements. Prepare the financial statements of a limited company in accordance with company law requirements and International Accounting Standards. Prepare financial statements for a business where incomplete accounting information is available. Prepare cash budgets for a business. Prepare control reconciliations and use other checking procedures to ensure accuracy in completed financial statements. Utilise spreadsheet software to perform calculations, manage data and conduct financial analysis. Teaching & Learning methods: 225 Assessment: 120 minutes
