授業の概要 Course Overview: Mission Statementとの関係性 / Connection to our Mission Statement The course will equip the students with essential English communication skills and global competences as stated in the mission of the university, such as "frontier spirit" and professional abilities necessary to bridge the gap between New Asia and the rest of the world. 授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course Through this course, students will develop productive and receptive skills in preparation to achieve the CEFR B2 & C1 levels at the TOEIC® Listening and Reading score (700 levels score range). This course aims to further strengthen students' four English language skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, in order to prepare them in their pursuit of graduation and post-graduation goals, including job searching, job application and /or further academic study. 学修到達目標 / Achievement Goal Students will be expected to build up English vocabulary, understand grammar and make use of the knowledge through reading, listening, speaking, and communication tasks assuming various business situations. *This is a SAC compulsory course. 受講後得られる具体的スキルや知識 Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students can expect to: - Understand a wide range of advanced-level English grammar constructions - Be able to produce a wide array of statements and questions at the CEFR B2–C1 level - Have broadened vocabulary knowledge through review and recycling via receptive and productive tasks - Improve reading fluency using advanced critical reading strategies such as skimming and scanning - Master critical listening strategies to identify key information in audio or video samples as well as search for and recognize information in audio or video samples - Be able to discuss topics using open and closed practice to accurately describe/explain complex business-related actions and events - Produce effective business communication in a variety of advanced writing styles - Take part in case study discussion using various advanced English communication skills SDGsとの関連性 Relevance to Sustainable Development Goals Goal 4 質の高い教育をみんなに(Quality Education) 事前学修と事後学修の内容、レポート、課題に対するフィードバック方法 Pre- and Post-Course Learning, Report, Feedback methods: This learner-centered course will be guided by an instruction in the form of grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading input (supported by individual study completed by the students) as well as speaking and writing practice in equal components. The independent study outside of class will include written as well as online homework tasks. Group and peer interaction will occur throughout the semester, and will be supplemented within individual work.
