授業の概要 Course Overview: Mission Statementとの関係性 / Connection to our Mission Statement In line with NUCB's mission statement, this English language course aims to educate and inspire students to become innovative and ethical leaders through the medium of English. In so doing, it is hoped they can grasp and take on the ideal of ʻFrontier Spiritʼ and the ability to create knowledge in English for the advancement of business and society. 授業の目的（意義） / Importance of this course This advanced English language course provides students with complex readings and listening activities that emphasize the foundational English learned in the previous terms. The productive and receptive tasks will contain material at the CEFR B2 & C1 and TOEIC® 700 levels score range. This course has a special focus on grammar and vocabulary relevant for the TOEIC® exam learned through reading, writing, listening, speaking, and communication tasks that reinforce previously covered materials throughout the current and previous academic terms but with an increase in the complexity of the materials presented and the tasks required of the students. Across the classes, assignments and tasks are presented in individual, pair and group work formats along with homework and individual study components for active learning. This course also involves the required completion of 20 hours of self-directed learning in the SAC with the support of SAC staff and SAC volunteers. 学修到達目標 / Achievement Goal Building on the previous 500, and 600 core courses, this course will further strengthen students' four English language skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, in order to prepare them in their pursuit of graduation and post-graduation goals, including job searching, job application and /or further academic study. 受講後得られる具体的スキルや知識 Learning Outcomes: - Grammar: to review grammar previously learned, to use the grammar of each week productively - Vocabulary: to review and recycle vocabulary via receptive and productive tasks - Reading: to improve reading fluency, and to learn and use critical reading strategies, such as skimming and scanning and context and situational cues - Listening: to learn and use listening strategies to identify key information, facts, and main ideas via audio or video samples; - Speaking: to discuss topics from multiple perspectives, to accurately describe/explain business-related actions and events, to be able to ask and respond to questions about one's and someone's daily business life; - Writing: to learn a variety of writing styles with a focus on meaning and process over accuracy and production as a means to overall effective business communication. Peer, and group interaction and other interactive tasks will occur throughout each term.
