This course introduces the broad range of topics relevant to the field of linguistic anthropology including language structure (phonology, morphology, and syntax), the origin and evolution of language, semantics and pragmatics, interrelationships of culture and meaning, and the intersection of gender, race, ethnicity, class, and nationality with language and language use.
