Principles and physiological mechanisms related to pharmacology are addressed. Emphasis is placed on a thorough understanding of major drug categories and current medications frequently used by the intensive care nurse for acute and critically ill patients. Pharmacological considerations are addressed in relation to the management and prevention of complications. Prerequisite(s): ACCN 5505 or approval of the department chair.
