Description

Introduction to the thinking, language, and practices of scientists. Exploration of science as a way of understanding the world, its methodological and philosophical foundations, its limitations, and how science functions in the context of society and politics. Emphasis is placed on the scientific claims and science- related issues that we encounter as citizens. Topics include scientific methods and reasoning, research ethics, probability and risk, science funding, science communication and publishing, and misinformation.
