The Letters of the Apostle Paul

Aims Students are able to read the letters of Paul critically, using historical-critical and literary-critical methods; to interpret the theology of Paul as a theology in the making; to differentiate between different sources on Paul’s life and to apply this knowledge when reading Paul’s letters; to perform textual analyses of text units in the letters of Paul, including grammatical analyses of the Greek and translation into English; Students know of ancient letter writing conventions and are able to apply this knowledge critically when reading and interpreting Paul’s letters. Students know the contemporary exegetical research on the issues discussed and develop their own views in critical dialogue.
