Description

This course evaluates the following learning outcomes The student 1.3 (FM) formulates solutions and advice regarding finance related operational problems taking into account the institutional context and the uncertainty of the corporate environment the organisation is operating in. 2.2 (FM) uses a scientific method based on normative as well as descriptive financial theories to take a position with regard to current societal issues and the strategic implications they entail for corporations. 2.5 (FM) critically reflects on the (international) financial environment and the institutional context organisations, intermediaries and private investors are exposed to and how this influences financial decision making aimed at optimising the mean/variance properties of returns. 4.1 (FM) outlines and interprets current trends in theory and practice of corporate financial management 10.2 (FM) integrates information and empirical evidence w.r.t. corporate finance themes from various (business, policy, scientific) sources to empirically and scientifically support a point of view concerning the relevance of the theme in a business context. 11.1 is aware of the rapidly evolving knowledge society that he/she will enter and therefore understands the need for maintenance and improvement of acquired knowledge, skills and competences and acquisition of new knowledge, skills and competences. Objectives related to Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability (ERS): Gaining insight into the role of regulations and supervisors (e.g., EU MiFID, CRR/CRD, …) in ensuring ethics, responsibility, and sustainability within financial institutions and markets (ERS Worldview). Gaining insight into the (importance of) integrating multidimensional (stakeholder) perspectives within financial institutions and markets (Complexity in ERS). Gaining insight into how societal changes influence the role of (financial) markets and institutions (Future orientation for ERS).
