Description

Students gain insight into statistical decision making and statistical processing of measured data. The students understand the role of probability in statistical analysis and can use probability theory and can interpret the outcomes. More specifically, students can dissect a specific problem in all its aspects, properly formulate it and translate it into a statistical model. Students can estimate and test unknown parameters, using a procedure suitable for the problem. Through supervised as well as individual exercises, students get the opportunity to increase their understanding and knowledge in the subject matter. On multiple occasions the students are familiarized with a statistical software program. The examples in the lectures and the exercises are chosen from the world of bio-engineering.
