Seminar Prof. A. Dr. A. Verbeke objectives: To acquire an exhaustive understanding of a topic in contract law; teaching of scientifically sound research focusing on comparative law issues; preparing a thesis on a topic within the framework of the treated subject; verbal explanation of the research; group discussion Writing critical and topically relevant comment; integrated legal comparison with one country (i.e. Belgium abd France, the Netherlands or England - see Method) Seminar Prof. B. Dr. B. Tilleman objectives: The drafting of contracts is a skill that the university does not consider an obligatory part of the regular curriculum of law studies (except for the specific subject components for the additional master of notaryship). However, not only the notary, but the company lawyer and even the house attorney as well are confronted with it. Often does one call upon "model clauses" in this case, without understanding the pecific scope it entails. In this seminar, the aim is to write an exhaustive manual on a specific type of clause. The student must therefore first identify which variations (lawyers, notaries, lawyers) are prevalent in practice, in order to then identify potential problem areas concerning the validity, the interpretation and the opposability of that particular clause, based on a survey of Belgian and foreign jurisdiction and legal doctrine. Finally this should culminate in the presentation of an annotated model clause.
