Law and Artificial Intelligence (for Students working their Way through University)

Description

This course allows students to familiarize themselves with the basic concepts in Artificial Intelligence that are essential for a thorough understanding of the current (and future) legislation on AI-controlled systems. After a successful completion of this course, students should understand the (technical) key elements of AI-controlled systems. They should have insight into the existing legislation on AI-controlled systems and be aware of the challenges these systems pose to our legal system. Students should be able to rely on these insights when devising a solution to legal cases. This course contributes to the following learning outcomes: The student has mastered the key concepts in AI; The student has insight into the interplay between AI and Law; The student can adopt a critical position towards the ethical, philosophical and economic dimensions of AI; The student can address complex problems in the fields of AI and Law.
