Computer Networks

Description

This course aims to provide students with a thorough understanding of important topics in computer networks. The course is structured around the following layers of the network protocol stack: physical, datalink, network, transport, and application layer. The course starts with a general introduction; then the different layers of the protocol stack are studied in depth. The course uses a self-learning oriented approach, where students prepare for classes by studying and synthesing material, have discussions with one another, and possibly use digital information. During the classes the study material is further analyzed based on presentations, discussions, work in groups, and other interactive studying methods. After following the course, the student should be familiar with the functioning of the most important building-blocks and protocols of a computer network. In addition, the student has aquired skills to self-study new material and learn through interaction and collaboration with peers and the docent.
