Anthropology of Language Use: Diversity and Inequality in a Languaging World

Upon completion of this course the student can: - Explain the main insights regarding the interplay of various forms of diversity and inequality in various communicative processes. These insights provide from (linguistic) anthropology and ethnography-based sociolinguistics; - Use the basic toolbox for the registration, notation, transcription and analysis of communicative situations ; - Apply these insights and this toolbox to interpret specific communication situations characterized by a complex interplay of migration-driven diversity and inequality. These objectives are communicated at the start of the lectures to the students via Toledo.
