Introduction to Anthropology in a Decolonizing World

Description

This course aims to provide an introduction to a number of central anthropological basic concepts and frameworks. The following objectives are pursued: Knowledge and insight into the most important anthropological theoretical schools and basic concepts; Being able to relate and apply those basic anthropological insights; Insight into and affinity with standard anthropological methods (participant observation); Developing an anthropological "view" of the world. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to independently apply the anthropological concepts and themes from the course to social situations presented to them. These aims will be communicated to the students at the start of the course.
