Quantitative Data Analysis in Action
Description
Upon completion of this course unit, the student has achieved the following objectives: • Students understand the importance of the principles of replicability and reproducibility in data analysis and are able to apply these to a given case. • Students are able to construct a questionnaire, prepare a raw dataset for use, and check several indicators of data quality (such as item non-response). • Starting from a substantive research question, students can select the most appropriate analysis technique and apply it to existing data using statistical software (R). • Students can independently analyze and interpret existing data, and present their findings clearly in both written and graphical form. • Students are familiar with the objectives, areas of application, and underlying principles of data reduction and scale construction. • Students are familiar with the objectives, areas of application, and underlying principles of logistic regression and moderation analysis. • Students are familiar with the objectives, areas of application, and basic principles of multilevel analysis. These objectives are communicated to the students at the start of the lectures.
